The digging crew at work at the stegosaurus site. In the foreground is the grid used to create the site map on which all the bones found are documented.
Dig, dig, dig. Clean, clean, clean. Kirby and the crew meticulously dig and clean, inch by inch, finding small stegosaurus teeth and skull parts. A large dorsal plate can be seen in the foreground.
In this photo, an ulna, radius and humerus are being exposed and an large plate has also been partially excavated.
Everyone is busy making sure every bone is carefully excavated and documented before removal from the site.
The overburden is removed and placed in buckets and dumped away from the site. Various glues are used during the excavation and extraction process including paleo-bond, acrylics, elmers glue and of course plaster and burlap.
